Before looking at homes you must...

1. Contact a lender (if you don't know one, we can recommend three terrific lenders: see the mortgage information section). Find out from your lender how much you can qualify for to purchase a home. You can always choose to spend less than you are qualified for. It is very easy to become excited about features found in homes out of your range, so finding out how much you qualify for in advance will help you select homes in a price range that you are comfortable with. 2. Complete a list of what you need and want in a new home. Decide what features are must haves (location, number of bedrooms, number of bathrooms, garage, etc.) and which features are wants (fireplace, den, spa, split floorplan, etc.).
